Art Center of Burlington

OUR MISSION

OUR MISSION

To use the power of art to awaken the creative nature that is in every person, to connect us socially and to contribute to the vibrancy of Burlington.

OUR VISION

The Art Center of Burlington believes the arts hold transformative potential for the individual and enhance the unique culture of our community. We strive to elevate the social culture of our community, to provide opportunities for creative expression, and to educate individuals in various forms of art.

Located in the heart of Downtown Burlington, the Art Center showcases one-of-a-kind artwork of local & regional artists with monthly Gallery exhibits & Artists Market. Children & adult art classes are offered along with unique events throughout the year. The Gallery Lounge offers the finest selection of wine, beer, & live music in a creative environment on the 1st & 3rd Friday of every month.

The Art Center of Burlington was founded in 1966 by a group of artists and friends with the first show at the Unitarian Church and eventually moving to its first home downstairs at the North Hill Medical Center. The very next year in 1967, the organization started the Father's Day tradition of Snake Alley Art Fair. Artists lined the alley with snow fence to hang their artwork for sale. Snake Alley Art Fair will be celebrating its 54th Anniversary on June 20, 2021.

The Art Center of Burlington is funded by memberships, as well as grants from Burlington Fine Arts League, John H. Witte Jr. Foundation, Harry & Virginia Murray Foundation, memorials, corporate sponsorships, private donations, and special fundraising events like the Snake Alley Art Fair.
