Theme: Industrial Heritage
Capture our many old industrial buildings or factories in the town, and explore the juxtaposition of the industrial structures against the natural surroundings.
Artwork must be done outdoors, en plein air, during the event. All paint and drawing mediums are accepted. There are no size limits on canvas and paper. A map will be provided. This event is rain or shine.
Early Registration: $30 for both days, $20 for 1 day
Day of Registration: $35 for both days, $25 for 1 day
Daily Plein Air Check-In
Check-in is between 8-10am at the Art Center of Burlington, 301 Jefferson Street on Saturday and Sunday. Artists are not required to participate each day. If you are signed up for both days, you only need to check in on Saturday. Canvases and/or paper must be stamped at check-in. Stamp must be visible at judging or access provided if asked by the judge. Complimentary artist packets will be provided and include daily instructions, maps of suggested site locations and other goodies.
Artists are limited to submitting 2 pieces for judging. Only works hand-delivered and hung by 3pm Sunday will be displayed and eligible for judging. Artists are encouraged to drop off artwork anytime before this time. All canvases must have a picture wire system for hanging. No sawtooth hangers, D-Rings preferred. All art done on paper should be protected under plexi/glass and framed. Artists are welcome to use the Art Center classroom to put their pieces together. The utmost care will be taken in the handling of artwork, we assume no responsibility for loss or damage to any artwork.
Judging will take place on Sunday from 3-4pm.
There will be a reception with live music from 3-6pm on Sunday, September 17 and our Gallery Lounge will be open serving beer and wine. Each painter will receive one free drink ticket. This event is open to the public and will encourage people to meet the artists and buy the artwork from the competition.
First Place: $250

Honorable Mention: 1 Year Individual Membership to Art Center of Burlington
Artwork from the event will be exhibited in our Mini Gallery September 17-October 28. The Art Center of Burlington will be responsible for all sales of the artwork. A 25% commission will be taken for any sales. Artists will be mailed checks in early November for any sold pieces.
